Where is your heart right now?

Computes Venus, Mars and the Moon from live orbital positions — no stored forecasts.

How This Works

  1. 1.The map computes the real geocentric positions of Venus, Mars and the Moon for this exact moment, from the same published orbital elements and lunar series astronomers use — not from a date-hash or a stored forecast.
  2. 2.Venus's sign is measured against your Cancer Sun by aspect — conjunction, sextile, square, trine, quincunx or opposition — and placed in your solar house. That pairing names the room you're standing in, and it lasts about a month.
  3. 3.The Moon, your ruling planet, gets its own layer on a completely different clock. It changes sign every 1 day 23 hours to 2 days 13 hours, so it sets what you can actually feel tonight rather than what the month is about.
  4. 4.The read-by stamp solves for the exact moment the Moon crosses into the next sign, so the tool tells you when its own reading stops being true. Mars underneath moves on a six-to-nine-week rhythm and shows where friction is aimed.
  5. 5.The rooms ahead scan the sky forward for Venus's next sign changes and stations, so you get dated windows rather than vague promises. To see how these transits land on your own placements, generate your full birth chart.

Cancer in Love: Why Your Ruling Planet Changes Rooms Every 55 Hours

A Cancer love horoscope has a shelf life of roughly fifty-five hours, and almost nobody publishing one will tell you that. The reason is arithmetic rather than opinion. Your ruling planet is the Moon, the fastest-moving body in the sky, and it holds a sign for between 1 day 23 hours and 2 days 13 hours. Every other sign in the zodiac is run by something that stays put for weeks, months, or — if you happen to be an Aquarius — about two and a half years. You are the only sign whose ruler cannot sit still long enough for a weekly forecast to survive being written.

Two Clocks Run a Cancer Love Life, and They Disagree

Compare the two bodies that matter for romance. Venus sets the terms of affection and holds a sign for about four weeks; measured across 2026–2029 the shortest stay is 23.9 days and the longest, thanks to a retrograde, is 125.8. The Moon holds a sign for a mean of 2 days 6 hours and 35 minutes. That's a ratio of roughly twelve to one.

Here is what that does to a reading. Inside a single Venus room — the four-ish weeks a normal horoscope treats as one mood — the Moon works through eleven or twelve different rooms, and in four Venus stays out of five it reaches all twelve signs at least once. So the month says one thing and your own ruling planet says twelve different things while the month is still running. Both are correct. They are simply answering different questions.

This is why the tool above prints a read-by stamp. It solves for the exact minute the Moon crosses into the next sign and tells you when its own lunar reading stops being true. No other reading on this site does that, and no other sign needs it.

The far end of that scale is worth seeing, because it is the same device pointed the other way. Leo is ruled by the Sun, which never retrogrades and closes its loop in exactly a year — so the Leo love horoscope prints an anniversary stamp instead of a read-by one: not when the ruler reading expires, but the fortnight of the year it recurs in, for every year that reader will ever live. Yours is good for two days. Theirs is good forever and tells them nothing they did not already know from the date.

Venus24 – 126 daysWhere affection is easy, and what it costsAbout monthly
Mars6 – 9 weeksWhere desire and friction are aimedEvery couple of months

One practical consequence worth keeping. Because the Moon completes a full circuit in 27.32 days, it comes home to Cancer thirteen or fourteen times a year. Every other sign gets its ruler back once a year at best, and a Capricorn or Aquarius waits twenty-nine years for Saturn. You get a homecoming every four weeks — and each one lasts about two and a half days, during which everything lands at roughly double weight. That's the single most useful thing to know about timing a difficult conversation.

Why Dating Never Feels Light for a Cancer

Now the second comparison, and this one is a genuine oddity in the dignity tables. Traditional astrology grades every planet by how well it works in each sign; the system is called essential dignity and it's the oldest scoring rubric in the craft. Venus is in detriment in Scorpio. The Moon is in fall in Scorpio. And Scorpio is your 5th house of dating, flirtation and play.

Two debilitated planets in the one house that is supposed to be light, and one of them is your own ruler. I ran the same test across all twelve signs to check whether this was actually unusual, and it is: Cancer is the only sign whose 5th house debilitates both Venus and a different ruling planet. Taurus is the only other sign with two hits, but both belong to Venus, which rules Taurus and falls in Virgo — so it's one weak planet counted twice. Sagittarius has a debilitated Venus in the 5th and a neutral Jupiter. Nobody else has anything at all.

Sun sign5th house signVenus thereRuler there
CancerScorpioDetrimentMoon in fall
TaurusVirgoFallVenus — the same planet
SagittariusAriesDetrimentJupiter, neutral
The other nineNeutral or strongNeutral or strong

Read that against the aspect and it gets stranger. Scorpio is a water trine to your Sun, which is the easiest angle in the whole system. So the pull is enormous and the machinery is broken at the same time. That combination describes the actual experience with uncomfortable accuracy: attraction arrives fast, gets private fast, and skips the casual phase completely. A Cancer almost never has a light three weeks of dating. You go from nothing to something with a lock on it, and then wonder why it felt heavy from the start. The Cancer and Scorpio pairing is the extreme version of exactly this.

The Strongest Room in Your Chart Isn't a Romantic One

If the 5th house is the worst-staffed room you own, the 11th house of friends and community is the best. Taurus sits there, and Taurus is the one sign where Venus is in rulership and the Moon is exalted at the same time. Both of your load-bearing planets at full strength, in one house, and it is the house of the group rather than the couple.

Which is the whole explanation for something Cancers report constantly and interpret as an accident: the relationships that work started as friendships. It is not shyness and it is not a failure to put yourself out there. It is the only romantic route in your chart with two functioning planets in it. Every piece of standard advice aimed at Cancer — date more, be braver, get on the apps — is aimed at the 5th house, which is the one room where nothing you do works properly.

Sagittarius arrives at the same practical destination by a different road, since Venus rules Libra in the Sagittarius 11th. The difference is that for a Sagittarius it is one strong planet, and for you it is two, one of which is your ruler. The Sagittarius love horoscope works through its own version of the argument. Two charts, two mechanisms, one piece of advice: go to the thing.

What Happens When Venus Runs Your Home

Venus also rules Libra, and Libra is your 4th house of home, family and roots. That is a serious placement to have in the house Cancer already rules by nature, and it changes what the word security means for you.

Most guides describe Cancer as wanting security in a partner, which quietly implies emotional reassurance. The chart says something more specific and more useful: with Venus in charge of your 4th, affection for a Cancer is genuinely tied to premises. Whose house you spend Sunday at. Whether there is a drawer. What the kitchen looks like when you both stop pretending. A Cancer who says the relationship feels unsettled is very often describing a living arrangement rather than a feeling, and the two get confused because they occupy the same house.

The catch is the angle. Libra squares your Sun, so this room always arrives with friction attached even though the planet inside it is at full power. Expect the domestic subject to come up sideways and feel like a fight when it's actually a renovation.

Once a Year, the Door Is Staffed by Your Weakest Placement

Capricorn sits opposite you, which makes it your 7th house of committed partnership. The Moon is in detriment in Capricorn. So the room where relationships get defined, negotiated and formally agreed is the one sign your ruling planet handles worst, and Venus crosses it once every year.

That is the honest mechanism behind the reputation for pulling back. It isn't fear of intimacy — intimacy is your 8th house and you are famously good at it. It is that a Cancer is fluent in feeling and clumsy at terms. Closeness that stays unstated feels safe; closeness that has to be named out loud, with a timeline attached, feels like an exam. The instinct is to withdraw and wait to be pursued, which reads to the other person as a decision rather than a request.

Do the opposite during the Threshold month, and only during that month if you like: say the awkward sentence at the door. The transit is a door, not a verdict, and it closes again in about four weeks.

Put These Four Dates in Your Calendar

The current Venus cycle does something to Cancer that it does to nobody else, and it is worth marking. Venus enters Scorpio — your Locked Room — on 10 September 2026. It stations retrograde there on 3 October at 8 degrees Scorpio, backs out into Libra and your 4th house on 25 October, and turns direct at 22 degrees Libra on 14 November. It then re-enters Scorpio on 4 December and finally leaves on 7 January 2027.

Venus normally spends about 24 days in Scorpio. In this cycle it spends 79, split into two visits either side of a retreat into your home house. In plain terms: a dating question reverses into a living-situation question in late October, gets rethought through mid-November, and then returns to the dating question in December with different information. If you are going to make one romantic decision in the next six months, make it after Venus clears Libra in early December, not during the retrograde.

After that the year gets kinder. Venus reaches Taurus and your Long Table on 15 May 2027, and your own Hearth month runs 3–27 July 2027. Those are the two best windows on the calendar, and neither of them is a dating window.

Mars Moves Twelve Times Slower Than Your Ruler

Mars is the useful counterweight to all that lunar speed. It holds a sign for six to nine weeks, so it explains the stretches where a mood keeps recurring instead of passing. From 11 August to 28 September 2026 it crosses Cancer itself, which is the one sign where Mars is in fall — drive turns protective rather than direct, which is comfortable for everyone you love and quietly tiring for you.

Then it does something awkward. Mars crosses from your 2nd house into your 3rd on 26 November 2026, retrogrades back into the 2nd on 22 February 2027, returns to the 3rd on 15 May, and doesn't reach your 4th house until 15 July 2027. That is roughly eight months with friction parked on money and messages — the two subjects a Cancer is least willing to raise directly and most likely to stew about. Handle both in writing, early, before the mood attaches itself to a person.

The practical test when a reading feels wrong: check which clock you are on. If the mood has lasted two days, it is the Moon and it will pass without you doing anything. If it has lasted a fortnight, it is Venus. If it has lasted two months and keeps circling the same subject, it is Mars, and that one needs a conversation rather than patience.

When to Close This Page and Use Something Else

Transits describe conditions, not people. If the same problem has now survived four different Venus rooms, it has stopped being weather and become a pattern, and patterns change through conversation rather than through waiting for a better angle. This page cannot help with that and will happily give you a reason to postpone it for another month.

Two other limits worth naming. Everything here is read from your Sun sign, which means it applies to every Cancer alive; your natal Moon sign is what decides how any of it actually feels, and the moon sign calculator will find it from your birth date. And this map deliberately reports the Moon's sign and never its phase — if you want tonight's illumination and the full lunar cycle, the moon phase tracker owns that. For work, mood and energy rather than romance, the Cancer daily horoscope covers what this page leaves out on purpose. Two clocks set your rooms. Which door you actually open is still yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because your ruling planet has moved on. The Moon holds a sign for between 1 day 23 hours and 2 days 13 hours, averaging about 55 hours, so a Cancer forecast written on Monday is describing a body that has changed room by Wednesday lunchtime. Every other sign is ruled by something that stays put for weeks, months or years. Read the Venus layer for the month and the Moon layer for the next two days, and stop expecting one reading to cover both.
Venus crosses your own sign from July 3 to July 27, 2027 — a single pass of about 24 days, which is the only annual window where the love planet sits directly on your Sun. That's your Hearth month: you read as warmer and more approachable than usual, and approaches cost the least. Use it to be met rather than to look after somebody, because starting a relationship by being useful is the oldest Cancer trap and this transit makes it feel effortless.
Because your chart is built that way. Taurus is your 11th house of friends and community, and it's the one place where Venus is at full strength and the Moon — your own ruler — is exalted at the same time. Your 5th house of dating is Scorpio, where Venus is in exile and the Moon is in fall. Friends-to-lovers isn't a personality quirk for a Cancer; it's the only romantic route in your chart staffed by two planets working properly.
Yes, and it moves backwards through the two houses that matter most to you. Venus stations retrograde on October 3, 2026 at 8 degrees Scorpio — your 5th house of romance — then retreats into Libra and your 4th house of home on October 25, turning direct there on November 14 at 22 degrees Libra. The pattern is unusually literal: a dating question reverses into a living-situation question. Review through mid-November, and hold any decision until Venus clears Libra in early December.
Sensitive is the wrong word for what the astrology describes. The Moon is the fastest-moving body in the sky, so a Cancer's emotional register genuinely resets more often than anyone else's — roughly 13 or 14 complete circuits of the zodiac a year against one for a Sun sign. That's volatility of tempo, not fragility of feeling. The practical version: a Cancer's mood is far less reliable evidence about a relationship than a Cancer assumes.
Yes, and it's one of only five options. Venus never appears more than about 47 degrees from the Sun, so a Cancer Sun can only carry natal Venus in Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo or Virgo. Venus in Gemini gives a Cancer a much lighter, more talkative romantic style than the sign's reputation suggests, which is why these transits will land differently for you than for a Cancer with Venus in Taurus. Read this page through your own placement.
Scorpio and Pisces give the easiest water trines, and Taurus and Virgo give the most sustainable day-to-day fit through the earth sextiles. Capricorn sits opposite you and produces the strongest pull along with the hardest lesson, since it's the sign where your ruling planet is in exile. The detail most compatibility guides miss: Scorpio is also your 5th house, so the chemistry arrives fast and the light dating phase never really happens.
Usually because closeness has just moved from being felt to being defined. Capricorn is your 7th house of committed partnership, and the Moon is in detriment there — your ruler handles the sign of terms, timelines and formal agreements worse than any other. Intimacy is native territory for a Cancer; negotiating it isn't. The fix is unromantic and it works: say the awkward sentence at the door rather than retreating and waiting to be pursued.
